Does Levlen cause weight gain?

Weight changes are listed as a possible side effect of Levlen, although it is important to note, not everyone will experience this side effect. Another possible side effect, fluid retention, may also contribute to potential weight changes.

Is Evelyn pill the same as Levlen?

Yes. There are many pills that are the same as Levlen such as Femme 30/150, Microgynon 30 ED, Monofeme, Eleanor 150/30 ED, Nordette, Micronelle 30 ED and Evelyn 150/30 ED. Each contains the same ingredients at the same strength but is made by a different company.

What are Levlens ingredients?

Levlen contains the combined active ingredients Ethinylestradiol 30mcg and Levonorgestrel 150mcg in 21 of 28 pills in each pill blister sheet. The last 7 tablets of each pack are inactive ‘sugar pills’. A full list of ingredients is found in the consumer medicines information.

Levlen Side Effects

While taking Levlen it is possible you may experience some side effects, although not everybody will. Some more common side effects are breast tenderness, headaches, nausea, acne, changes in weight/ weight gain, mood changes/ mood swings and vaginal bleeding (spotting) between breakthrough bleeding.

If you are experiencing any of these you should speak to your doctor or pharmacist.

There are more severe side effects that are much rarer however you should be aware of them. These include an increased risk of blood clots which can result in a slightly increased risk of heart attack or strokes. You must make sure your doctor is aware of your medical history before using Levlen. Make sure you talk to your doctor regularly to ensure your risks for blood clots such as high blood pressure, are managed.

Levlen does not prevent sexually transmitted diseases or replace the need to practice safe sex with new partners.
