Futura Medical the manufacturers of Eroxon gel are getting ready to apply for approval and registration to the regulatory body, Therapeutics Goods Australia (TGA). It has been approved by other regulatory bodies around the world such as the UK, Europe, the United States and some Middle East countries. 

In order to be released in Australia, the manufacturers have to gain approval from the TGA to ensure the safety and efficacy of the gel. The TGA will also decide if the gel would be accessible with prescription or over the counter like in the UK.

When will Eroxon gel be available in Australia?

There is no definite release date as it has not been through the approval process yet. The time it takes for TGA to process the application is based on how quickly they can assure the safety and effectivenss of the medication.

In June 2023, it was approved in the United States as the first ever over the counter treatment. Whether it will be OTC or prescription only in Australia, is yet not confirmed.

How much will Eroxon cost in Australia?

The cost of Eroxon has not been released in Australia. It is yet to be approved or registered with the TGA so cannot have a determined price. The cost of any medication is based on the manufacturing process, its transportation and handling, and the storage conditions it requires.

How will Eroxon be used?

It is manufactured in single use tubes. The gel is a non-medicated hydro-alcoholic which according to studies take effect within 10 minutes of applying it for most men. It has been stated that a pea size amount is needed to be applied which then evaporates and cools the skin in 60 seconds.

How to get Eroxon gel?

The Food Drug Administration has classed the gel as a device and not a drug hence its availability over the counter in the USA. In Australia, there is no indication of how TGA will classify the gel and whether a prescription would be needed to purchase. 

Eroxon Gel side effects

The side effects of Eroxon are yet not confirmed by the TGA however based on the information available from the USA indicates similar side effects to other topical gels.

The international studies have shown that Eroxon is well tolerated and a minority of men reported a headache after usage. A burning sensation has been reported in rare cases. The TGA is yet to conduct its safety assessments and they will further release information on expected side effects.
